This is my hand on Saturday morning. A Polar Bear Run injury which was more like what I expected out of the Mud Run. The run was a beautiful 5k through the woods of Camp Sexton which I participated in with some folks from ACS. I embarrassingly tripped on a root, went flying through the air, and landed on my arm. I did finish the race, though! Marvin Owen and a local doctor fixed me up with the duct tape (yes, it’s camo) and cardboard contraption pictured. The doctor at the Urgent Care facility was quite impressed and said although it might not be the visual choice, it was exactly what it needed.
This got me thinking on duct tape and cardboard vs something like the wrist guard I left with. Yes, they both get the job done, but one is really the more preferable long term solution.
Do you ever feel like in your work that perhaps you are using the duct tape method? That surely there is a better way to get it done? Perhaps there is!
We love it when we get to go on site to visit a client. Trust me, we always learn more than you do from these visits! It is great to see our products in actions. There is typically a “what did you just do there” moment, though. We can often discuss how although that way works, there is a better and hopefully even easier method of completing that action. So, if you have something you do in your work that makes you think “surely it shouldn’t be this hard”, let us know about it. Maybe it’s not! Check out our recently released Document Library. We’ve got a lot of great documentation. We also have a Knowledge Base and an excellent Support Staff. If there isn’t a better way of doing the task, that’s good to know too so that we can make one. Because although duct tape might work, you might want a better longer term solution…
